I don't mind doing item numbers

Lakshmi Rai, who was last seen in Balupu, has stated that she doesn't mind doing item numbers in films, if the role demands it. Apparently, she has become quite particular about the films she has been signing, of late.

"If the role demands I have no qualms in doing so. But if the scenes are just to add masala to the film or to attract the audience, then I won't do it. I am not here for business, acting is my passion and so I am doing it. I want to do justice to the roles I do or else people will make fun of me. Mistakes have happened in the past, but you learn from your errors and I am carefully selecting my projects now," she said.

When asked about why she chose to do the item number in Balupu, she said that she couldn't say no where director, Gopichand Malineni created a special role for her and added a song, Lucky Rai, which was written for her. She'll soon be seen in couple of Tamil films, Irumbu Kuthirai, in which she's playing the role of a biker, and another film titled Aranmanai.
